Overview
As the Housekeeper you are responsible and accountable for providing direct support to the surgical unit and PACU to facilitate the processing of patients. The Housekeeper will act in accordance with policies and procedures for proper care and maintenance of the facility and its equipment. The Housekeeper must have a comprehensive understanding of safety regulations related to cleaning products and demonstrate a professional and caring approach in dealing with clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Special skills to be eligible

Address customers’ complaints or concerns
Wash windows, walls and ceilings
Vacuum carpeting, area rugs, draperies and upholstered furniture
Pick up debris and empty trash containers
Handle and report lost and found items
Dust furniture
Disinfect operating rooms and other areas
Distribute clean towels and toiletries
Attend to guests’ requests for extra supplies or other items
Make beds and change sheets
Clean and disinfect elevators
Provide basic information on facilities
Clean changing rooms and showers
Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
Clean, disinfect and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances
Assist with general household management including light housekeeping duties, shopping, meal planning and preparation (recognizing any diet restrictions that may apply).
Encourage the Client in maintaining independence by supporting them to maintain a clean home
Performs other related housekeeping tasks as indicated in the individualized written client service plan.
Practices universal precautions and adheres to WHMIS protocols.
Recognizes and reports safety concerns or equipment malfunction in the home environment and acts accordingly to meet the safety and the protection needs of the Client.
Able to establish communication with appropriate sources in response to emergency
Be conscience of the hazards in the home environment and to act accordingly in meeting the safety and protection needs of the Client.
Observes, documents and reports any emotional or physical changes in the Client’s conditions.
Clean and disinfect patients’ rooms, furniture and equipment including make bed ready for next patient, and restock patient rooms and bathrooms including, supplies such as towels, soap, blankets, empty garbage, etc.
Collect dirty laundry from patients’ rooms & recovery
Daily Dust Mopping of PACU floors
Spot Cleaning as required in response to incidents

Understanding of safety regulations related to cleaning products
Must be fluent in written and verbal English, and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be capable of working under pressure and performing a wide range of duties that may require independent action.
Must be proactive, cooperative, alert, accept directions, and be able to function as a team member.
